death be not a sting, tho it is

for the revengeful soul
when sorrow is given over
to the oppressor

making death seem like a thief
stealing the heart’s prized possession
and being ignorant of its value
death casts the stolen jewel
into the depths of the sea
where it sinks deeply

but for he who surrenders
the treasure re-found
reveals life is for the living
death can no longer cause harm
