~ a vignette ~
The sunroom was thick and heavy. Though the sky had opened and shed rapid tears, the humidity remained. The oscillating fan swiveled my direction every sixteenth second, teasing me with a soft, warm breeze. I reached for my iced tea, condensation speckling the glass like droplets of water on my body when stepping out of the shower.
I noticed a splash on the table a few inches away. There must be a leak. Peering up, I saw no issue and knew the minute I turned away the next drop would join the first. But I gave it no more attention. Just another hot day. Good for procrastination as the heat made my eyelids droop and my body’s pace slow.
Time for a nap. Twenty-one minutes. Then I’ll be ready to get back to work. This has become my afternoon routine. But it’s summer. I’ll make adjustments when the weather cools. What’s one more day?
