there are days
when the treetops sway
there are days
when the treetops remain still
it all depends on the wind
for the trees just are

rooted in the earth’s soil

as time passes
they grow taller
their roots deeper
their ability to handle
the force of the wind
grows greater

the greater the wind’s force blows

a tree’s stability strengthens
not by its resistance
but by its flexibility
whether the treetops sway
whether the treetops remain still
just be

this is … disciplined motion
