The beauty of a candle
isn’t so one can stare
and get lost.

The beauty of a candle
is the illumination of the dark,
as it casts forth its light.

The beauty of a candle
allows anyone in its path
the opportunity to see
what was once hidden.

Those sleep walking turn away
for the brightness hurts their eyes,
but those ready to awaken stand tall
allowing the candle’s flame to light their wick.

Candles of awareness carry on,
dissipating the slumbering darkness.
Illuminating all there is, was, and ever will be.

Oh, glorious day when the candles
marching together grow so bright
no darkness can be found.
